Context: an optimized parking experience
With over 10 million passengers a year, Marseille-Provence Airport is France’s second-largest regional airport. For its Super Eco parking lot, which has several thousand spaces, the airport wanted to offer a fluid, innovative and environmentally-friendly parking experience.
Challenge
- Reduce the time and distance travelled by motorists looking for a parking space.
- Offer a modern, simple and accessible guidance service.
- Optimize management of a high-capacity parking lot (5,000 spaces).
Cocoparks Smart Parking Solution
In collaboration with the airport, Cocoparks has deployed a real-time place-based guidance solution, recognized as a world first in terms of detection efficiency:
- Massive, ultra-efficient detection: over a hundred places detected per sensor, covering 5,000 places simultaneously.
- Dynamic signs and QR codes: installed along the route, they guide motorists and give them access to the Cocoparks mobile application(service available here).
- Coming soon: a full LED panel at the parking lot entrance will display a dynamic real-time map for even greater legibility.
- Sustainable, frugal technology: energy-efficient architecture that respects privacy.
Results obtained thanks to the smart parking system deployed at the airport
- Reduced search times: users find a space faster, even at peak times.
- Reduced environmental impact: fewer kilometers driven by vehicles in the parking lot, so fewer COā emissions.
- Optimized passenger experience: a simplified, stress-free journey from the moment you arrive at the airport.
- Visible innovation: the airport reinforces its image as a modern hub committed to Smart Mobility and Smart Parking
Going further
- The innovation was announced in TourMag, highlighting the modernization of airport services for summer 2025.
- The smart parking guidance service is available on the airport’s official website: Parking Super Eco AMP.
- A video presentation is also available on YouTube, highlighting how the device works.
